A large and dreamily lyrical 1930’s coastal scene by the British artist Joseph Edward Hennah (1897-1963). Vernacular white stone cottages sit peacefully overlooking the sea in a scene that combines tranquillity with a sense of pre-war nostalgia.
After serving in WWI, Hennah settled into life as a full time artist, primarily as a landscape painter successfully exhibiting at the Royal Academy on numerous occasions.
