A wonderfully vibrant floral painting by Gwynneth Reynolds (1926-2017).
Reynolds studied at the celebrated East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing at Benton End, Suffolk. Benton End was the home of the world class flower painter Sir Cedric Morris and his partner, the artist Arthur Lett-Haines and together they established the school. It became a sanctuary for a diverse range of influential artists, writers, musicians and botanists of the 20th century and Reynolds later wrote the book ‘Benton End Remembered’ (published in 2002).
During her time at Benton End Reynolds was tutored by Cedric Morris and her joyous use of colour and form evokes her master’s art and approach.
